There are two new categories of tax credit eligible individuals authorized by President Obama's Recovery Stimulus package and they are: Disconnected youth - if you're between the ages of 16 and 25 and have not been working or going to school on a permanent basis over the past 6 months, you're part of the new categories. Unemployed Vets - if you've come off active duty in 2008, 2009 or 2010 and have been on unemployment for at least 4 weeks, your part of the new categories. If you are either a Disconnected Youth or Unemployed Vet as defined above, your employer is entitled to a federal income tax credit of up to $2,400 if they employ you! The sad part is not many employers know about the program. Here's what you do on your next job interview:
